David’s Bio

After a successful career as one of New York’s finest, Dave Legaz retired as a Sergeant in 2002 after responding to the 9/11 World Trade Center tragedy and losing his partner. 

Dave combines his two decades of law enforcement experience and 25 years of real estate practice to teach real estate professionals across the country how to reduce their risk of being targeted by a predator.

In 2019, as a graduate of the NAR Leadership Academy, Dave petitioned NAR’s Leadership Team to create a REALTOR® Safety Advisory Committee and was appointed its first Chairperson for 2020. He is also the Education Chairperson and a Board of Director with the Beverly Carter Foundation whose mission is dedicated to improving agent safety. Dave also co-authored an agent safety book named, “Safe Selling: A Practical Guide for Preventing Crime without Sacrificing the Sale.”

David is the 2020 NYS Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR) President-Elect and was the 2017 Long Island Board of REALTORS® President and their REALTOR® of the Year in 2014.

Dave has been a NAR Director since 2013 and an NYSAR Director since 2012 and he is a broker and investor of two Keller Williams Realty Franchises as well as the CEO of his Legaz Team real estate practice.
